Flea Market Finds

It seems that when my life gets busy, blogging is the first thing that gets pushed to the back burner. Blogging is one of my happy places, so I get excited when I'm able to find time to get back to it again.

One of the reasons I haven't been posting is the flea market and yard saling scene. I have some awesome finds to share with you!
My mom and I stopped at a Pickers Market on Saturday of Labor Day weekend. I found an old window, two old fashioned irons, and a set of pool balls.
I then made the mistake of letting my mom talk me into visiting the local ReStore. I found a piece of glass to replace a broken one from a frame, clip boards (2 in the pictures below) for an art project I'm working on, 3 Coca Cola bottles (4), and some pieces to use in my classroom for a workbox.
We also stopped at a yard sale, and I picked up some glass jars and an old planter to put out in the backyard.
The next day, we all traveled to the "Dog Days Flea Market." This was so much fun! I forgot how exciting the game of bargaining is :)
Ryan even joined us for this, which means the boys tagged along. They are still being groomed for the flea market scene, so it took a bit of patience with them. I got a crate from Mass (Ryan's from there.), spindles (3) to finish a project with the boys, an old stop sign and license plates to hang in the garage, and my favorite... pink flamingos made from license plates (1).

I also got a yard stick that was a very touchy situation with my Mom. She's collecting them, and I just found a project I want them for. I spotted this one that she walked right by! It's even from a store in downtown Huntsville.
At our final stop, a yard sale on the way home, I picked up some ornaments. I always like finding Christmas decorations for cheap.

It was a fun weekend, and I can't wait to share the projects I complete with these items!

  1. You got a lot of awesome stuff! I prefer to go by myself so I don't have to worry about my own friend buying something I wanted.

    1. That would help! I don't know if my mom would let me get away with it, though :)

  2. I love the flamingoes! How did they piece all those tags together to get one flamingo? I love boxes of any kind. Will check back to see what you make from all of this.

    1. On the flamingos, there's a bracket on the back. The plates are overlapped a little bit, but I can't tell how they attached them. Would you weld it?

  6. I love to go to flea markets. You never know what you're going to find. Love the coca cola bottles. And, yes, blogging is my happy place, too. Though, life gets busy, I try to always keep it in the mix somewhere.
