Our Growing Gardens

Our gardens are in full bloom, and I am so excited to get food from them soon. Last summer, we built raised beds for vegetables, fruits, and herbs. If you missed them, you can see them here and here. 

The cucumbers were calling my camera, so I had to take some pictures. This is what we have to look forward to...

These are our cucumber plants growing up the trellis. Ryan chose regular and pickling varieties so that we can can (hehe!) our own pickles this year. He made some a couple years back, and they were so good. Since I've taken these pictures, we have some that are almost ready to pick. I can't wait!

Here are some of our other spoils.

I'll describe the pictures from left to right.

This is the second year for our grape plants. Last year, we didn't get any. This year, they are covered!

I completed my paths between my garden boxes on the side of the house. The stone is from what we used on our patio, so it was free, and we got the dirt on sale for less than $1 a bag. I also put in ground cover plants, which have already taken root and are spreading.

Our cherry tomatoes have started coming in. They're so good that none of them make it into the house; we eat them before that is possible!

My lavender is doing really well. I had to transplant it so that the mint wouldn't overgrow it, and even though I was nervous about the move, it survived.

The last picture is of the start of a cucumber. I love to be able to show the boys all of the steps of the plant cycle. It really helps them understand it when they're seeing it in action.
