Show and Tell #6

This weekend was a busy one! I went out with my parents both Friday and Saturday to the yard sales, and we found some great things. Mom and I got a lot for Peppers Pickins. I'm excited to get it cleaned and fixed up to add to Etsy. We also found stone to put around our pond that has been in the making for awhile. Ryan and I got busy doing that, so I forgot to take pictures for this post from the weekend. Luckily, I had a doctor's appointment down in Birmingham today, so Mom went with me to hit up a few thrift stores.

Show and Tell #5

We have been super busy with our trip to Disney, baseball, and swim team, so it has been a LONG time since I've been able to go yard saling. It felt good to get back out there. I felt like we hit a lot of sales this morning, but I didn't find much. That's just part of the game!

I use Yard Sale Treasure Map to scope out potential places to visit. I even got more advanced today and used the different colors on the locations to show which ones I didn't want to visit (blue), which ones I wanted to visit (red), and once we visited them, I turned them to green. It was much easier on me when I was trying to figure out where to go next.

Show and Tell #4

This past Saturday, I got started with yard sales after I dropped Jax off at lacrosse practice. I only had time to make it to three before having to return for the end of practice. The first two were a bust, but at the third one, I found a chair for my mom, a Tupperware tray, a small, old suitcase, and a box of mason jars. Brady also bought a cup of lemonade; anything to make him happy!

Show and Tell #3

Visiting my grandparents is always a lot of fun for our family. It seems to have become traditional for us to head down there for our school breaks, so last week, that's where we were.

Ryan and I love to go antiquing and check out the different shops they have in Fairhope. We tend to find at least a few great things to bring home!

Show and Tell #2

Yesterday, I began working on our taxes, and today, I somehow let my husband convince me that starting Insanity was a good idea. Before I get back to finishing our taxes, I need a pick-me-up! So here I am to share what I found this weekend at the Goodwill.

My parents and I traveled to Tennessee last Saturday to see what we could find. I'd say I was pretty successful!

Show and Tell #1

I've had the post titles Yard Sale Finds and Thrift Store Finds, but when I'm with my mom and grandma, I can't keep up with both! We've been busy in Fairhope, Alabama finding some great things at both thrift stores and yard sales. Instead of trying to separate them, I've decided to combine them and rename the posts after what my family calls our sharing: Show and Tell. (Lindsay, this is dedicated to you!)

Thrift Store Finds #3

I'm back! It's been a little while. Well, a long while. I figured I would start where most of my posts start... at the thrift store. Today was the 50% off sale at Goodwill.

My favorite find today was a classic pair of Kate Spade flats. I got them for $2! It took a little scuff mark to keep them off of goodwill.com, but to fix that, all it takes is a Sharpie!

I also found a Michael Kors dress, Loft dress that will look great with some leggings, and Talbots top.

Thrift Store Finds #2

I'm finally getting back to a schedule of sorts! We've had all kinds of crazy things happening for our family, including the ending of the school year for all four of us, PreK graduation for Brady, a trip to Massachusetts, Ryan's brother's wedding, and me starting summer session at my school. After all of that, the first thing I made sure to get back on schedule was the first Saturday of the month at Goodwill for their 50% off sale. It was a great day!

Thrift Store Finds

The first Saturday of every month is 50% off at Goodwill in Tennessee. This is the first time in awhile that I've been able to head up there to shop, since soccer season is finally over. Unfortunately, it wasn't a good weekend for finding great things. Being patient is part of the game!

My New Endeavor

I've been MIA (again), because I am adding another thing to my plate. My mom and I have decided to try turning a hobby into a business. It's probably better to describe it as a hoarding issue, but my mom doesn't see it that way! We both love vintage items, repurposing, and of course finding the things we use for a great bargain.

Flea Market Finds

It seems that when my life gets busy, blogging is the first thing that gets pushed to the back burner. Blogging is one of my happy places, so I get excited when I'm able to find time to get back to it again.

One of the reasons I haven't been posting is the flea market and yard saling scene. I have some awesome finds to share with you!

An Old Suitcase

My mom and I seemed to be ahead of the repurposing phase and just didn't realize how popular that would become. 

For the boys' changing table, I transformed the dresser above so that could it could be reverted back. The changing pad sat on top, and there was enough room at the end for a basket to organize the diaper accessories. Eventually, I am going to make into a tv stand for our den/guest room. It's getting a lot of use!

Yard Sale Finds #5

It has been a long but fun day. My mom and I traveled down to Birmingham for my appointment at the Autonomic Center (I have dysautonomia. I included a link, because you probably have no idea what that is!) and then of course hit some thrift stores on the way back. I made some good purchases, like a wire basket and two glass jars to use in my pantry.

Yard Sale Finds #4

I had a really lucky weekend! Yard sales were great. My couponing trips were great. Father's Day was great. I am happy!

We started out Friday, and there were only a couple. I got three brand new lamp shades (still wrapped) for $1 each, two decorative pumpkins for the fall for $1, a booster seat for $4, and a waffle maker for $3.

Saturday began slowly, but I made a great find at the end, which is when it counts!

I got the dress for $3 with the intentions of possibly using it for a wedding. The shirt was $1, and the tie was $0.10.

Brand new Sperry flip flops for $5! Awesome find!!

I picked up an old cheese grater for $0.25. I'll be repurposing it; I just don't know how yet!

I was just talking at work about finding silverware for the kitchen. What do you know, I was able to pick this handful up for $0.50. It doesn't matter that it's mismatched, because what they already have is, too.

And here's the best find...an umbrella for our back patio! I've been looking for two years, and I'm glad I waited. I think the brand is Brown Jordan, but it's raining right now, so I can't double check. Ryan and I looked it up online and they ranged in price from $1,000 to $5,000!! I paid $30 for it. It's beautiful, and sitting underneath it yesterday afternoon was just so wonderful. 

Sometimes it's annoying waiting to find the things you want, but it really does pay off to be patient.

                      

Yard Sale Finds #3

This weekend was a LONG one. Jackson had a baseball tournament that started with one game Friday evening, starting back at the ball fields Saturday morning at 8:30, and leaving around 5:00. With that being said, it was a GREAT day! Their team was definitely the underdog. They only had 7 players, and in their league, all players get to go on the field and bat, so the other teams had at least 10. Their team came in 3rd place! The boys were awesome!!

Now that I'm done bragging, I'll share my fun finds from the weekend. Down here in Alabama, they start the yard saling on Friday. Luckily, with my summer hours, I can go! Not much luck, though, and nothing on the ones I could squeeze in Saturday. 

I got two purses, a Coach and Talbots, for $11.

One of the thrift stores nearby was having their 50% off sale; that's where I really had the luck. I got all of this for $10.50!

Most of these are self-explanatory, but I will say something about a few. 

The fan blades are for a cute idea I saw on Pinterest. Blue Velvet Chair posted the cutest dragonflies, and eventually, I want to deck out the boys' area in the backyard. This would be a perfect addition, and the set of fan blades were $2. I couldn't pass it up!

I also got what looks like a magazine rack, but there are endless possibilities for storage. It needs a coat of paint, so now the decision is whether to redo it in black or pick a fun color.

I have no idea what the square metal frame is. I'm thinking it held something together that was screwed into the brackets. I'm not quite sure where I'm going with that one, but right now, I'm picturing some kind of art work to go out on our back patio. Let me know if you have any awesome ideas that jump out at you!
