My mom and I seemed to be ahead of the repurposing phase and just didn't realize how popular that would become.
For the boys' changing table, I transformed the dresser above so that could it could be reverted back. The changing pad sat on top, and there was enough room at the end for a basket to organize the diaper accessories. Eventually, I am going to make into a tv stand for our den/guest room. It's getting a lot of use!
I also have a suitcase that I've been using to hold all of my childhood mementos. It has made its way around decorating my spaces. It is currently acting as an end table in our den/guest room, which is a couch that turns into a bed.
I found another suitcase at a yard sale a few weeks ago. I liked the look of it, so even though I didn't have a purpose in mind, I snatched it up anyway.
It didn't take long for me to realize it matches our master bedroom. I have an electric blanket (I know that sounds crazy for Alabama, but in the winter, I enjoy a warm bed to crawl into!), and it needed a home during the summer. I figured the suitcase would be the perfect place to put it. All I had to do was figure out how to incorporate it into our decor.
As I looked around, I realized my scrapbooking armoire looked a little boring. That was the place to use it!
I also had some hat boxes that store our wedding cards and mementos from college, so I stacked those on top. Other items were added around the suitcase. I found some decorative balls at a yard sale, so I put them in a basket on top. It needs more, but I'll keep hunting for them at yard sales!
I enjoy the extra height those accessories gives to the piece and the added charm.
I love how you repurpose your things I do the same. The new suitcase looks fabulous on the armoire, how fun is that. Thanks so much for linking to Inspire Me. Hugs, Marty
