Outside Pumpkin Decorations

I love when my house looks the most festive on the street!  It started with a few additions for the fall season.  Then, we visited the pumpkin patch.  With a few choice placements, the pumpkins added so much to our front walkway and entrance.

The wreath was found at an end-of-season sale, and the "Trick or Treat" banner came from the Dollar Tree.
I specifically picked out a flatter pumpkin to fit on top of our milk jug.

Placing some pumpkins with the scarecrows added just the right touch.
Of course we have to include a tribute to Ryan's favorite football team.

I can't wait to carve some of the pumpkins with the boys and add some spookiness for Halloween night!

Thanks to all of the wonderful link party hosts!

Pumpkin Farm Visit

One of my favorite parts of fall is visiting the pumpkin patch. Since moving to Alabama, we found Tate Farms and use coupons through Living Social or Groupon to go for half price.  That's a huge savings for our family!  Tate Farms also has very reasonable prices for their produce, so I am able to pick up pretty much whatever I need without my husband noticing the bill too much :)
They have an awesome area set up at the entrance for a perfect picture op.  My boys had more fun just playing on the tractor!
The farm has a bunch of animals for us to pet.  In addition to the pigs, they have calves, chickens, goats, and rabbits.
The boys had a blast with the water pumps!
They have a tractor that pulls the kids around in a little train. Ryan went with them last year!
Mama and my boys :)
Funny faces (from Yo Gabba Gabba) with their pumpkins
A rare family picture
The farm has an orange bouncy "pillow" for the kids to jump on.  Jackson and Brady could play on this for hours!
One of Alabama's biggest products... cotton
Brady was finally brave enough to go down the huge tube slide by himself, and we had to bribe him to finally stop!
Our family had an absolute blast, and the best part is we did it for half price.  Happy Fall!

More Halloween Decorating

I can't wait to share the rest of our Halloween decorations with you!

I'll start with our mantle. I had "tomatoes" (named by the boys, it's the garlands with the little balls on them) on it already for fall and added lights and small pumpkins to the cotton branches. The candy corn hurricane glasses have also made their way to the top of the mantle due to a three-year-old that won't keep his hands out of them!
I used twine to tie the pumpkins to strong branches. I also made sure to find pumpkins with long and bent stems to make it easier to tie.
Over the kitchen window, I spread some of the spider webbing I had left over from the dining room chandelier. I also added spider webs from the Dollar Tree to either side of the window (not pictured). I attached plastic spider rings to both.
I tied the office area into the rest of the kitchen by covering the old typewriter with spider webbing.
The pumpkins are accents on our kitchen counter. These were hand-me-downs from my parents.
In the boys' bathroom, it turned into a jack-o'lantern theme. I have little hand towels that I added to the towels already in there. They also have a soap dispenser and towel on their vanity. It has been a lot easier to get them to wash their hands now that they have the fun soap dispenser!

Happy Halloween!

Halloween has hit our house!

I've had to make the rule for myself that I wait until about a month before a holiday to decorate.  Otherwise, it gets a little out of control.  It also gets my boys excited way too early, and then I have to repeatedly explain how long they still have to wait!
Well, it's now October, so I can decorate for Halloween.  I already shared my fall decor, and I can easily add a few details to make them more appropriate for the upcoming holiday.  It also makes it easy to transition into Thanksgiving afterwards.
My mom stumbled upon Halloween lights for $1 each at Goodwill, so we now have those throughout the house.  In the dining room, they are over the window and along the back of the jelly cupboard.

I added a jack o'lantern to the jelly cupboard.  On the table, I spread a table cloth and traded out the wine corks in the hurricane glasses for candy corn.
To use less candy corn, I bought the green flower molds to put in the bottom.  I was able to squeeze the candy corn around it in the big glass but not in the little one.  To solve that, I cut construction paper the width of the block and taped it around.  (I realized too late that the tape is showing in the picture.  I have since turned the vase around to hide that!) The candy corn covers the green on top.  Warning: If you have children like Brady, be prepared to find them planted on top of the table sneaking the candy at 6:30 in the morning!
I also figured out how to avoid dusting the cobwebs off of our light fixtures... add more!  My boys had a blast with this. I even got Ryan to help.  The bag of webbing came from the Dollar Tree and had 4 spiders with it.  We also had some spider rings left from something else, so we put those in there as well.  I was really impressed at the amount of webbing that came in the bag.  We now have it all over the place.
I'll share the other things we added in upcoming posts.  Keep checking back for the spooky additions!
