Family Staples Price Organizer

One of the things I learned from Moneywise Shopper's couponing class is to keep track of the prices you pay for your staples.  This way you know that you are getting a good deal.  I'm not going to lie, this is something with which I struggle.  I don't know why I can't conquer this, especially when I have a great template for completing it.

There are a few examples I have found out there that were pre-made. The one thing they were missing for me was a place to add any coupons I used to get the final price. Knowing that little piece of information helps me remember how I came to my low total. Plus, I like to be able to type mine  and edit as I get better deals.

I keep two lists, one for food and the other for household products.  Those categories also correspond with my coupon binder.

There are a few ways you can make your list.  Our family shops at Costco, so I keep track of the prices there in addition to the price I can get couponing from the regular grocery stores.  That way, if we haven't stocked up enough on an item, I know the difference between the deals.  You can also just keep track of the lowest price you find.

I usually break down the price by individual units (eg~oz) so that it is easier to compare.  I also learned to become more detailed when I listed the sale.  Instead of just recording that I used a coupon (cpn), I actually list the sale along with the coupon amounts and combinations.

I hope this helps you keep track of the great deals you find!
